Three beeps from the CGO3+ with no video feed is the camera’s way of telling you the gimbal failed its startup self-test. The usual causes are a failed gimbal encoder, an IMU problem, or a damaged ribbon cable.
Safe checks
- Power everything off. Check the gimbal’s ribbon cables for pinches, tears, or loose connectors.
- Gently rotate the gimbal by hand (power off). It should move smoothly. Grinding or stiffness points to a mechanical problem.
- Make sure the camera firmware matches the drone. A interrupted update can leave the gimbal in a failed state.
When it needs bench work
Encoder replacement and IMU calibration require disassembly and test equipment. This is one of my most common CGO3+ repairs. CGO3+ gimbal repair. If the camera is beyond repair, I stock replacement CGO3+ cameras.
