If your Typhoon H sits on "Acquiring" and never gets a GPS lock, you are not alone. This is one of the most common Typhoon H problems, especially on drones that have been stored for months.
Try this first
- Take the drone outside under open sky, away from buildings and trees. Power it on and leave it alone for at least 30 minutes. Do not move it. A GPS board backup battery drains during long storage, and the module sometimes needs an extended first session to recover.
- Check the GPS cable. Keep the twists in the cable, they reduce radio interference. A pinched or damaged cable is a common cause.
- Make sure you are not testing indoors or under a metal roof. GPS needs a clear view of the sky.
When it is a hardware problem
If the 30-minute outdoor test does not help, the GPS module itself is the usual suspect. But note: if a new GPS module does not fix it, the flight controller is the next likely cause. Other warning signs that point to the flight controller: the motors will not arm even with GPS switched off, the altitude reads below zero, or the yaw behaves abnormally.
